The Punjab and Haryana High Court has instructed the GMADA Chief Administrator, Mohali Deputy Commissioner and the Senior Superintendent of Police to prevent the setting up of an unauthorized and illegal colony in the district.
The bench directed the officers to ensure no permission for setting up of any illegal or unauthorized colony in the revenue estate of Seonkh village in Majri tehsil of Mohali district. Assistant Solicitor General of India Chetan Mittal has already referred to the model code issued by the ECI to say before another Bench in another case that orders passed by writ courts must be complied with despite the election code promulgated in Punjab. Mittal had also added that the permission from ECI was not required.
