Chandigarh airport was inaugurated in September 2015 to cater around 45 lakh passengers every year. This year the figure reached to 15 lakh passengers. Despite a huge demand for domestic and Intonation destinations, the air traffic in Chandigarh and Punjab looks bleak.
It doesn’t have beverage outlets, wi-fi facility, duty-free shops and ATM’s. In spite, the runway length is 9000 feet which is good to handle slimmer planes only so, it needs to acquire more land for parallel runway project if want to expand their services exclusively to civilian use.
